Georgia
Georgia is a small country with an ancient history and rich cultural heritage. Here East meets West and the visitors are impressed by the pristine nature, numerous cultural sites, the great variety of landscapes, fertile lands, authentic agricultural tradition and hospitable people. Georgia occupies a territory of 69.700 sq.km. The population is approximately 4 million. The GREAT SILK ROAD once passed through the country.
The national religion is Christianity (orthodox-adopted in the IV century), but many different churches, a Mosque, Synagogues coexist peacefully in the center of the capital of Georgia Tbilisi. The official language is Georgian and Georgian alphabet is unique and it's among 14 world known alphabet group.
The highest mountain is Shkhara (5201 m), also here is the highest inhabit in Europe Ushguli (2200 m). The main rivers are; Mtkvari, Rioni, Alazani, Iori, we have more then 26 000 rivers. In Georgia you can see desert and semi-desert near to each other.
There are about 150 museums and 12 000 monuments in Georgia, 4 of which are included in the UNESCO heritage fund: The museum city of Mtskheta, architectural complex of Gelati, Bagrati temple and Svaneti with its historic towers.
The climate is subtropical with high humidity, alpine zone is from 2 100.
